Our Primary Preschool Program

At the Grow Academy in McKinney, Texas, we understand that children never stop learning. From the moment they enter our center, our students learn from their peers and teachers.

They’ll also learn in both our developmentally appropriate classrooms and age-appropriate playgrounds. Our objective is to make education fun and inspire children to continue exploring their world.

Exploring My World Curriculum

In most cases, two-year-olds want to be independent. They want to explore, imagine, experiment, and interact with their teachers and fellow students. We took these into consideration when developing this curriculum.

Science

Our teachers encourage students to explore their natural environment, investigate how things grow/change, and use their senses/simple tools to test how things work. We provide opportunities to develop each child’s scientific problem-solving skills.

Our two-year-olds also study the effects that actions have on objects. In addition, we help students with environmental protection activities.

Mathematics

Students learn how to count, identify numerals, use positional words, describe quantities, solve mathematical problems, and predict how things fit and move through space.

We’ll also help them build one-to-one correspondence, sorting, patterning, and simple measurement skills.

Language and Literacy

Our teachers create various daily opportunities to immerse students in language and literacy. These include storybook readings, songs, finger plays, puppet shows, flannel board activities, language games, and other engaging interactions.

We provide literacy-rich experiences knowing that each child’s language abilities affect different aspects of their development.

Additionally, our Everyday Language program introduces kids to other languages. It emphasizes conversational speaking and vocabulary development.

Social and Emotional Development

Our teachers help children develop their independence. Students also learn how to manage their emotions and responses when interacting with peers and teachers.

We also encourage them to demonstrate empathy and compassion for others and to form positive, nurturing relationships.

Gross and Fine Motor Development

As a child practices their motor skills, their independence continues to develop. They learn to feed themselves with forks and spoons during our family-style meals, improving their fine motor skills.

Our students also practice writing, using scissors, and completing puzzles. Playing on our age-appropriate playgrounds also enhances each child’s gross motor skills.

Outside, they enjoy running, climbing, jumping, and other activities. They also love dancing and participating in the musical activities in our daily routines.

Character Education

We believe in the importance of introducing children to different character traits. Our teachers focus on a specific positive value each month, including honesty, patience, and generosity.

Our goal is to help children better understand society. This sets a foundation for our students to develop into caring citizens.
